Steph's passion for human movement and wellness is what fuelled her to found the I Am Strong Community. She loves to help discover and create all of the physical, emotional and social benefits that exercise offers. Always moving from a young age, she has experienced how engaging in active communities can positively shape young women. She believes the impact that exercise, yoga, meditation and meaningful conversation can have on young girls' physical and mental health is tremendous. She is a Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology - Certified Personal Trainer and entering her 3rd year in the Bachelor of Sport and Fitness Leadership - Exercise and Wellness program at Camosun College in the fall of 2018. In her free time, Steph's heart beats for exploring the wild west coast, settling into warm coffee shops, and incessant laughter with her nearest and dearest.

Katie is currently a student entering her third year in the Bachelor of Sport and Fitness Leadership program at Camosun College. She returned to post secondary education after pursuing two 200 hour yoga teacher trainings with Shanti Yoga studio based in Nelson, B.C. The first training lit a spark within her- she knew she had found something special. She booked a flight to Hawaii eight months later to complete a second 200 hour training and found her knowledge and passion grow exponentially. Upon returning, she enrolled in the BSFL-Exercise and Wellness program to further her education in the health and wellness industry. While striving for academic excellence and playing for the Camosun Chargers Women's Volleyball team, she has learned how to balance her time and energy. These experiences have taught her the importance of practicing both mental and physical health, as well as growing individually and within a community. Katie believes exercise is the best form of medicine and has a sincere passion for helping others to find balance, peace, and happiness in their lives. She is honored to be a part of the wonderful and fulfilling I Am Strong Community and is excited to share it with as many people as possible.
Florence is a passionate creative and registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) born and raised on the west cost. With a background in volleyball and soccer throughout her upbringing she knows the pace and stresses that girls are faced with each day and believes yoga is a powerful tool to create space for tranquility. Her passion is connection through relativity and strives to bring humans to the mat to build better relationships with the Self, starting at the roots. When she is not practicing yoga she is surfing, painting or photographing as she studies Graphic Design at the Pacific Design Academy. Taking the creativity inspired by art to build unique vinyasa flows specific to each group Flo sees herself in each student and is an approachable and relatable young woman. She knows that life is no easy journey and that through conversation and friendships we are all able to reach contentment with support and inspiration from our community.

With something always on the go, and the next adventure on the horizon, Brooke spends her spare time as immersed in physical activity and outdoor culture as possible. She is goofy, easygoing and a very approachable young woman who has had strong female role models growing up. She looks forward to passing down her passion for fitness and the outdoors to the next generation of I Am Strong. Brooke is attending her 3rd year in a Bachelor of Sport and Fitness Leadership at Camosun, a certified personal trainer and aspires to be a future CSEP-CPT and CSEP-CEP.

Camille is a Victoria native that grew up playing sports and being active. She played varsity tennis in the United States and has since returned to Victoria to pursue her passion for kinesiology and health at the University of Victoria. Through her experiences she understands the importance of fun, guided physical activity and leading a balanced lifestyle. Camille now aspires to share her knowledge on exercise and the importance of mental health, especially with young women. Through I Am Strong, she hopes to bring a fun and positive atmosphere, and to inspire young girls to embrace physical activity while building self-confidence and social connections.

Holly is currently working at the University of Victoria facilitating a variety of active workshops for international students; she sees firsthand the positive impact and happiness that social interaction and physical activity creates. She loves surfing, cycling and hiking, and believes her active lifestyle plays such an important part in her mental wellbeing, which she holds top priority. Her passion for helping others and managing health has fuelled her to start nursing at Camosun College this coming fall. She is excited to share her knowledge with the girls of I Am Strong and be a friendly face and role model in the youth community.

A dynamic educator and consultant in health and fitness Tanis has been an advocate of inspired health and well-being for the last 20 years. As an exercise physiologist, yoga teacher and mental health advocate, she focuses her teaching and research on human behaviour and optimizing our well-being through movement. Tanis’ early research was conducted with the Department of National Defense exploring quality of life issues for new recruits and special operation teams, and more recently understanding the connection between well-being and movement in a variety of populations such as post-secondary students, veterans, and elite athletes. As a faculty member at Camosun College and an adjunct professor at the University of Alberta, Tanis is committed to spreading her passion in building healthy communities and fostering a curiosity for living well. Apart from her professional life, Tanis is a wife and mom of 5 active children, she is fascinated by food and loves to cook, running is her meditation, and coaching and watching her kids sports brings her joy.
